Artistic Vision

Marilena’s background as an activist and educator inform her approach to filmmaking and jewelry design. Since 2008 she has used video to uplift and bear witness to grassroots struggles that engage everyday people. The spirit, attitude and energy that fuel both small acts of heroism and triumphant efforts of the collective to better our world animate her work. She draws inspiration from the beauty found in humble, people-made objects and all things born of mother earth.
